This module explores how contemporary globalization influenced the production, distribution and consumption of HR services and practices worldwide. After reviewing three 20th century economic events that affected the globalization paradigm, the main economic issues associated with HR practice are outlined. Leading practices are suggested for individual HR practitioners (the supply side) and the organizational HR function (the demand side). HR’s role and specific competencies in terms of global HR economics are discussed.
