This module reviews the importance of global teams for multinational organizations. After exploring the complexity of global teams and their challenges and opportunities for team performance, evidence-based knowledge regarding team functioning is presented with regard to personality traits of team members, basic conditions of team performance, high performance characteristics and the development of effective teamwork processes. Organizations—and HR in particular—can provide support by constituting, building, managing and leading their global teams to high performance. Leading practices in global teaming and the role of HR are explored.
